Wat is phishing?
'Phishing' is the general term for fraud, in which someone tries to steal your personal (credit card) information. For example, you receive a fake e-mail, SMS or WhatsApp message that takes you to a fake website.
Fraudsters look for the following data:
- Your credit card details;
- The login details for My ICS Business;
- Your name, address and place of residence;
- Email address and password of your email address;
- Details of your bank account (IBAN).
Unfortunately, we cannot (usually) prevent the 'phishing' actions of internet criminals. We are happy to tell you how to recognize false messages and what actions you can take with us to combat phishing.
How does a fake email work?
A false e-mail is an e-mail sent on behalf of ICS. The purpose of the email is for you to leave personal information. The email contains a request to fill in data and a link to a bogus website.
Recognize fake emails
You can recognize fake emails as follows:
- The email is usually not personal, it says 'dear customer' or 'dear sir/madam';
- The email asks for quick action;
- If you do not respond immediately to the e-mail, your credit card will be blocked;
- There is also a link in the e-mail, which takes you to a fake website;
- Your mail provider or spam filter usually indicates that the e-mail is spam.

How does smishing work?
Fraudsters who try to retrieve your data via SMS use smishing or SMS phishing. Text messages that arrive on your phone are much shorter than a long e-mail. You will therefore often encounter instructions such as 'confirm your identity', 'remove the restriction on your credit card' or 'your credit card has been blocked for security reasons'. This is followed by a call to click on a link and solve it.
Recognize fake SMS or Whatsapp
To recognize if someone is trying to get your information from a message on your phone, pay attention to the following:
- Short text;
- You must do something to keep using your credit card;
- Text message comes from an unknown (foreign) number or from ICS.
