What does the BKR check entail during my application?
BKR stands for Credit Registration Office. If you apply for a credit card, we need to make sure that you can repay the chosen payment limit. We can see that from your income, but we also have to look at your obligations. ICS (International Card Services) does this via a BKR test. The BKR keeps an overview of all your loans. This goes back 5 years. If you have (had) arrears, you can also see this here.
ICS compares the income you have stated with the loans known to the BKR. This determines how much payment space you still have. In addition, ICS checks whether there are loan arrears. This says something about how you deal with repaying amounts. If the assessment shows that you have sufficient room for payment, and no (previous) arrears have been registered, ICS will continue with the assessment of your application. Incidentally, the ANWB Credit Card is a payment product. This is therefore not registered with the BKR after issue, unless you fall into payment arrears or apply for Spread Payments (a loan).
Why do I have to identify myself to apply for a credit card?
ICS (International Card Services) asks all its customers to identify themselves, because it is obliged to do so. Like other banks, ICS needs to know its customers. This is an obligation under the law to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
How long does it take before I receive the credit card?
If your application has been approved by ICS, you will receive the credit card you requested as soon as possible. On average this takes 10 working days.
Wie is International Card Services (ICS)?
